I think that I'm finished with this one. I may come back and do a little more on the whiskers once the paint is dry. It is 16" x 20" oil on linen on birch.
I will have 5 paintings on exhibition in this show at APW Gallery, located on Chrystie Street in NYC, NY. Dates for the exhibition are 11/14/08-11/21/08. The opening reception is on 11/14/08 from 6-8pm.
Watch this blog for updates to see the paintings that will be included.
Tonight I attended the "reading" of the next issue of The Birmingham Arts Journal. One of my sushi paintings is on page 20! I got to talk a little bit about myself and the painting. There were several people there who had short stories or poems in the journal as well, and each one either read their piece or at least a little part of it. I was the only "artist" present at the reading. Afterwards, two people asked me to autograph their copies!!!! I pretended not to be in shock!!!
I am getting close to being able to call this painting finished. I still have a couple of hours worth of work to do on it, but it has to dry before I can add those finishing touches.
After it was pointed out to me that my all the photographs of my paintings looked yellow, I adjusted the white balance in my camera and took the photo below. It is much more representative of the actual painting than any of the other photos.
