2nd Miniature Painting

This is my second attempt at a miniature painting, oil on canvas, 2" x 2"

First Miniature Painting

This is my first attempt at a miniature painting this small. The painting is 2" x 2" oil on canvas, titled Strawberry Tartlet.

Doctor Under Glass

This daily painting actually took me part of 2 days... a few hours each day. My goal was to practice painting realistic looking glass. The background will require adjustments once this layer of paint is dry.

Shaken, not stirred!

Started and completed today.

Just for Fun!

Here's a painting that I did as a birthday gift for my niece, Melonee Bolton. She will turn 10 years old on April 29th. I started it a few weeks ago, having done the grisaille stage and let it dry. I started applying the color to it yesterday, and finished today.

16" x 20" oil on canvas.

Finally... I finished the painting of the blood orange still life!

Robert Warren Workshop - 2008

I attended the Robert Warren workshop at Happy Heart Studio in Springville, AL on March 26 - 29, 2008. We completed 3 paintings, learned alot and had a great time! Robert is such a great instructor and a very nice person. If you ever have an opportunity to take one of his workshops, I'm sure that you will be glad that you did. He is very patient and shows individual attention to every student. This is a workshop well worth the time and money. I'm already looking forward to next year's workshop.

New Project

I have been given permission by photographer Kevin Best from Sydney to paint one of his still life compositions and photographs. He is a very talented photographer and makes some of the props in his still life compositions if he is unable to locate what he is looking for. This painting will be done in oil, on 24" x 30" stretched canvas.

I am using Creative Edge cotton canvas (24" x 30")


To prepare the canvas, I have applied quick-dry white mixed with alkyd and toned with transparent gold ochre:
